SHARE | When I started at Autumn Ridge, we were recovering from the pandemic and needed to find ways to connect our seniors with the community again, Our community has always had a big place in our heart for children and wanted to be able to give back in a big way. We thought that the car show at Autumn Ridge is a great way to bring the community to us for an event as well as raise money for the children so they could have an inclusive, safe place to play!
We are an independent and residential care apartment community for seniors. Our goal is to provide seniors with an independent lifestyle while giving them the supportive care they need so they can live their best life! I am involved in multiple organizations with in our community, from 3 local senior centers, to the twin city chamber and optimist club to the growth association. As far as specifically for Autumn Ridge, anyone that is aging or has loved ones over the age of 55. We may not want to talk about it but we all age and and some point will need help. My goal is to intervein in a seniors life before they need skilled nursing care. If I can keep them active and engaged, give them a high quality of life, the hope is that they can live a more fulfilling life and hopefully stay out of a nursing home for as long as possible. There are many options when it comes to senior living. We are the only one like us in our immediate area that provides the level of care we do at the more affordable pricing Autumn Ridge is unique most importantly by the people that live and work there. We do not feel like a nursing home but more like the apartment building we were built to be. As for myself, I truly care and give what I can to be as helpful as possible. Someone said to be the change you want to see in the world, I am not perfect at it but sure am making sure to do my part to give back to my community and be an amazing role model to my children |
CONNECT | A story that I frequently tell my families is about my own story. My step dad moved in with us before he passed. I’m a working mother and wife and there wasn’t always enough of me to go around. This made him feel like a burdon and made me feel guilty that I wasn’t enough. After he passed and I started working at Autumn Ridge, it brought a new found passion for my career, it was no longer about keeping people out of a nursing home, it was about helping seniors live a more engaging and active lifestyle.
At age 58, my mother was admitted to a nursing home and will not be able to live on her own. As her only child and again, a working mom and wife this brought on a great deal of guilt and feeling overwhelmed to manage it all. So when people come to Autumn Ridge or me looking for support, advice or guidance, I can truly say that I have been there and want to give them the help that they need. We are full of people that truly care and that isnt something that is easy to find! |
SUPPORT | Autumn Ridge is not a nursing home! Make sure you choose senior living while it is still an option and you are in the drivers seat, don’t let fear of change hold you back!
We support our residents and their families by giving them not just the home and care they need but also the support! This can be hard for everyone involved. As people age, it isn’t always a clear path forward, we have staff to help you navigate the uncharted waters. We provided engaging activities not just within our community but also go to local senior centers for bingo events. Autumn Ridge has empowered me to be active in many local organizations like the TC Chamber, JCGA and Optimist Club. We also hold fundraiser events to support local charities and organizations make our community a better place. If there is an opportunity for us to give back via service or in other ways we do the best we can to make it happen! Our current big push right now is making sure that our Car Show on 10/12 is well attended and a huge success. We have a goal of raising $10,000 for Kade’s Playground (we raised $4,000 last year) For our every day goal, we are passionate about ensuring that people know that there are options outside of nursing homes and that they deserve to live a happy and engaging life. You do not have to spend your senior years alone and or struggling. Discussing aging and what to do as you age shouldn’t be so taboo, if we are lucky, we will age as well and will need others for support. |
