“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old but on building the new.”
- Socrates
I love this quote.
I don’t know if I love it because I am a natural, authentic artist who loves to build and create, or if it is because it gives me permission to let go of all of the yucky things and feelings I do not want to fight anymore?
Either way, it inspires and energizes me.
Thinking about building makes me feel enthusiastic and optimistic about making changes.
I know I have a certain amount of energy within my brain bandwidth. I have a time frame bandwidth that I work within each day.
Within my time and energy bandwidth, if I really put my attention and intention on what I am building next, I feel progress towards change.
In 2024, I am changing by releasing, shedding, and shaking off the energy of fighting the old.
I am focusing on building, creating, and cultivating through itty-bitty shifts in how I think and in what I do.
This is a non-paid endorsement inviting you to think about your bandwidth and what you want to build in 2024.
These pictures are of itty-bitty buildings I built out of scrap wood before the holidays. My father has a hobby of wood turning. I am grateful to receive his scraps to create and build.
The possibilities of creativity within the way we build are endless.
P.S. The quote:
“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old but on building the new.”
…is actually a quote from a character named Socrates in Way of the Peaceful Warrior: A Book that Changes Lives, by Dan Millman.
I have not read this book yet but would like to. Have you read it?
If so, any feedback/recommendations?
Thank you for taking the time out to read and share this.
