Community can have several definitions and meanings to different people; however, most can agree that community is a collaboration that one can count on.
The culture of a community is felt within an energy; however, it can be difficult to comprehend until a story solidifies its existence
All stories have aspects of pain, conflict, and elements of overcoming. Recently, within our local community, a family is living quite a painful and conflicting real life story. Within the aftermath of an accident to a child, our community is collaborating to help them overcome this setback.
Katy Lewis, owner of Vivian James American Beauty salon in Crystal City, Missouri is no stranger to living her own real life with setbacks. What sets her apart, however, is how she has used her pain and conflict to help others overcome their setbacks. She is now leading the way, inspiring and inviting people to collaborate to truly create the culture of community around here.
When one of Katy’s team member’s young daughters was a victim in an explosive accident that caused severe, painful burning and a long healing journey for her, Katy and her team stepped up to ask local businesses to help out. So many stepped up to quickly and generously donate gift cards, products, and services for a basket-bidding fundraiser.
The Vivian James team has packaged two valuable baskets for the public to conveniently and electronically bid on to raise money to help this local family as they are overcoming this painful and conflicting story in their lives.
Within community fundraisers like this, it not only impacts and benefits the recipients of the funds, it creates an opportunity for all of us to step up and feel we are doing our part to solidify the culture of community: the collaboration we can all count on.
This is a non-paid endorsement, inviting you to be part of our community culture as we all collaborate to overcome painful and conflicting stories in our lives.
As always, when you SHARE this and spread the word, you CONNECT more people to SUPPORT this kind of collaborative energy.
Also, please share in the comments on social media: how do you define community?
Thank you to Katy Lewis and her team for your inspiring leadership.
