I spent the morning at the Festus Intermediate School. I was honored to be a parent volunteer to help for the sixth-grade timeframe at the PTO-Sponsored Carnival. What a special event!
This was an indoor and outdoor festival with a variety of amusing stations. Inside the gymnasium were many large inflatable bouncy houses, obstacle courses and a silly photo booth with humorous props.
Outside, students walked around enjoying the glorious weather while having their choice of many interactive stations. They could throw balls at targets above teacher’s heads, in hopes of drenching them with a bucket of cold water. Or, they could savor a sweet snow cone, throw beanbags for corn hole, or compete in other games, like giant Jenga and Plinko. It was awesome to observe these kiddos enjoy their freedom, socialize with one another and pick out what they wanted to do. Everyone had a blast!
This was an excellent celebration of their hard work from this last school year. The sixth graders will advance onto the Festus Middle School for seventh grade. The Festus Middle School is hosting a parent meeting tomorrow, Thursday, May 18 at 5:00 PM for parents and current sixth grade students to have a tour and learn more about this transition and what to expect next year. I love this communication and information.
Whenever I leave the Festus school campus, I am overwhelmed with gratitude to live in such a beautiful, safe community. I feel fortunate to have my children attend an educational and entertaining school, with the support of a strong PTO.
Thank you to all the parents, volunteers, PTO, teachers and the entire team who work in the Festus R-VI School District for all you do, year-round, to create a culture with solid values while instilling a love of learning for everyone. My heart feels full that so many people care and consistently show up for the benefit of our itty-bitty, and big, kids, for the greater good of our world.
P.S. Before the Carnival started, I observed students being dropped off by the buses. All of the buses/bus drivers were so organized. This reminded me a post I did earlier this year, expressing my appreciation for the bus drivers in Festus. Here is a link to that post:
