Newsies To Take The Contrarian Stage!

You are invited to the soft opening of The Contrarian, on our charming and historic Festus Main Street, this upcoming weekend!

Spotlight Community Theatre’s youth group will be performing the musical production of Disney’s Newsies Jr. from July 19-21.

While there will be four shows, with 200 tickets per show, tickets are selling quickly! In fact, opening night, Friday, July 19th, is already sold out!

The other shows will be on:

Saturday, July 20th – 2:00 PM
Saturday, July 20th – 7:00 PM
Sunday, July 21st – 2:00 PM

The Contrarian Concert Hall & Theater is located at 125 Main Street in Festus, Missouri.

My daughter is pumped to perform, playing the character Katherine Plumber. She wanted to tell give you an itty-bitty preview of the show:

“Hi, my name is Audrey. I’m 13 years old and I’m going to tell you a little bit about the musical that I am in. Spotlight Community Theatre is doing Newsies Jr.

Here’s what you can expect to experience:

Newsies is a little bit of comedy, a lot of drama, and a lot of catchy songs.

My character’s name is Katherine Plumber. She dresses very fancy. The timeline era of Newsies is 1899.

If you’ve ever seen the movie, the Disney Jr. version is a little different from the movie.

The main characters are Jack Kelly, Katherine Plumber, Davey, Les, and Crutchie, and the Newsies, of course.

You will hear a lot of musical breakout songs.

You will leave the theater feeling amazing, like you will want to see it again!

I really, really enjoy performing in this musical. It has been my favorite of all the musicals I have done. This musical is going to be incredible on The Contrarian stage on Main Street. Get tickets before they’re all sold out!”

From the creative young actors to the compassionate Spotlight Community Theatre volunteers, to the crew and visionaries working all hours of the day/night on The Contrarian, the collaboration of dedicated people who are involved to make this weekend a success, is beyond impressive.
