On The Grind Coffee Company in Crystal City, MO

On The Grind Coffee Company in Crystal City, MO

When a locally owned business opens a second location, you know they must be doing something right! While On the Grind Coffee Company (OTG) (also know as Grind Coffee Company) has been on my list of places to explore for some time, once I learned about their plans to open another location in House Springs, Missouri, I needed to see what all the hype was about.

I went on a Saturday to meet a friend over coffee and they were hopping! There was a constant flow of cars rapidly moving through the drive-through, as well as a steady pace of people walking in and out the door. All patrons were joyfully greeted and served impressively quick, considering each one-of-a kind drink order.Located at 1277 N. Truman Blvd in Crystal City (next to Kettelhut’s Smokehouse and close to Goodwill), this premier coffee shop stands alone as the only one in that area, conveniently open seven days a week.

OTG satisfies any healthy or indulgent craving. There are caffeinated and caffeine-free drink choices with coffee options ranging from espressos to cold brews to frappuccinos and more. Find refreshment in their smoothies and exciting “lotus energy” drinks while having fun experimenting with so sweet flavors and fruit, protein and candy add-in options. I chose the classic drip-brew hot coffee, modifying my order with an itty-bitty pump of vanilla flavoring and soy milk. My friend enjoyed a black cold brew coffee on ice. OTC also serves fresh, delectable bakery items like cookies, muffins, brownies, cake pops and more. I completed my purchase by adding a bag of their gourmet coffee beans for a gift basket that I am creating for an upcoming Festus Middle School fundraiser. OTC sells stylish merchandise such as hats, shirts, mugs and tumblers, all proudly adorned with their trendy logo. While small on the inside, OTG makes the most of their space. They have rustic wooden elements, paired with dark metals to provide a cool urban feel. There is a  cute table and chair vignette set up, where my friend and I sat to visit. They also have a higher bar top and stools ready for people to sit and talk, or perhaps work solo while overlooking their large outdoor patio/dining area. This outside zone has numerous seating choices, including cozy padded couches and chairs. This expansive, covered area is open to allow you space to spread out and savor your specialty drink while reconnecting with yourself or others.

I look forward to returning to OTG to try more of their offerings. I wish them the best with the opening of their new additional location at 4561 Gravois Road in House Springs, MO. This is the former building of Smokey D’s and is due to open this spring. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram to learn about their updates.

This is another nonpaid endorsement for another fantastic Festus-area local business. I encourage you to venture out and support the people and goodness in our community. Please spread the word.
