I lovingly blame my mother for my celebrity crush on Kevin Costner. When I was growing up in the 90’s, she was not shy to proclaim her affection for this actor. Movies like Field of Dreams, Dances With Wolves, Robinhood and The Body Guard were big hits, and favorites, in our home. Fast forward to 2018, my mother and I were stoked when we learned Kevin Costner was the star of Yellowstone, a Western TV show on the Paramount Network. If you are not an obsessed fan of the show, like many, it is set in Wyoming and explores the conflict between land and values. It primarily takes place on the Dutton Yellowstone Ranch where there are many cowboys, horses, cows and a southwest culture.
When I recently walked into Savannah’s Coffee Corral in Pevely, Missouri, I felt a warm, western energy. I smiled at the Wild West decor, feeling like I was actually in Wyoming. Taking this thought just an itty-bitty bit further, I imagined I was meeting up with John Dutton a.k.a. Kevin Costner for a hot cup of coffee. On second thought, I would meet up with Rip Wheeler, another character from Yellowstone, played by actor Cole Hauser. I am sorry, mom, he is my newer superstar crush.
Both of these cowboys would feel as welcome as I did at Savannah’s Coffee Corral. Rip and I would have our choices of places to sit…next to each other in the soft, cozy, oversized chairs in the corner, looking out the window; or, snugging into each other on the leather couch. If we were not feeling like a hot cup of coffee, we could sip on a cold, refreshing Tiki Breeze drink or an iced Boba tea. Surely, we would be cherishing our conversation and want to stay for a tasty lunch special, moving to eat at one of the many tables in the spacious dining room. After lunch, we savor a sweet pastry as we stroll around to peruse the specialty books, gifts and crafts on display/for sale from local vendors. Rip and I like supporting local businesses. Before saying goodbye to one another, we would make a plan to return to Savannah’s Coffee Corral to connect again over one of their many entertaining events such as games, live music, book signings, poetry readings, a farmers market and more.
Savannah’s Coffee Corral is easy for your horse, or vehicle, to find. They are located at the corner of Highway Z & 61/67, minutes off of the 55 exit, close to Pevely and Crystal City shopping areas. If you do not have time to stop in to enjoy all the inside has to offer, they have a convenient drive-through window to order and take your items to go.
Regardless if you are on Team John Dutton or Team Rip, or not interested in overdramatic fictional TV shows at all, you will find comfort and something to love at Savannah’s Coffee Corral.
