May I shine the SPOTLIGHT on the BEST, most fun and creative community nonprofit organization: Spotlight Community Theatre.
Am I biased about this group of people being the BEST people to be around (even if you don’t consider yourself a “theatre” person)?
Yup. You bet I am!
When my teenage daughter has found a second family with these people, who love and encourage her to be her most amazing, authentic self…and not pretend to be anyone else…(well, unless she is actually acting and performing to be someone else on stage…Haha), I am going to sing their praises!
This group leaves the drama to the stage and invites everyone (of all ages!) to be their most amazing, authentic self.
Learn more about this group by attending the “2025 Season Reveal” meeting on Sunday, December 1 at 7:00 PM at The Contrarian: 125 E. Main Street, Festus, MO.
This is a community gathering, open to the public.

SHARE | At Spotlight Community Theater, we provide a space where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together to express themselves creatively. We offer affordable access to the arts, give local talent a stage to shine on, and foster a sense of community connection through shared experiences. Whether it’s offering a creative outlet for youth, giving adults the chance to perform for the first time, or bringing family-friendly entertainment to the town, we’re solving the need for accessible, enriching cultural experiences. |
CONNECT | Theatre has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a really unstable environment and started to go down the wrong path in junior high. Theatre is the reason I am here today. Not only did it give me a sense of purpose, but it allowed me to explore my own gifts in a judgment free zone. It showed me what true family was and gave me a real place to call home. I learned confidence, collaboration, organization and so much more by working on production after production. Seeing and experiencing the final product after two months of blood, sweat and tears surrounded by the people you love is an indescribable experience that one truly only understands if they have ever been a theatre kid. I firmly believe I would not have made it through my 20’s and the tough life I had without the personal strength that theatre instilled in me.
My favorite thing about theatre is that it takes all kinds. Whether you have caught the acting bug, love sewing costumes, painting sets, building sets, creating props, running a light or sound board, or anything else, there is a place for you in theatre and definitely at Spotlight. |
