Government taxes are not the only taxes we pay.
I heard a parable a while back and the story has stayed with me…it goes something like this:
There was a shop filled with items crafted by local artists. An array of one-of-a-kind art, sculptures, crafts, jewelry, wood work, tapestries, food and more. Treasures that someone put their skills and originality into creating. While this sounds like a typical farmers/craft market, there were no itty-bitty price tags on anything.
There was simply a sign that said, “Take what you want and pay the price.”Shoppers were invited to take what they wanted and pay the price that they felt was fair to compensate the creator. The payer provided the value that represented the worth of the item to them. They determined what they would give up in order to receive.Quite the concept and something I think of as I correlate this story with other aspects of life, reflecting on taxes, trade-offs and costs.
The way someone interprets the value of anything is aligned with their perspective and the priority they set for their time and devotion.
All of our energy and actions have a toll attached to it.
Take what you want and pay the price.
What are the prices you paying/giving up to receive?
The photos are of my father’s wood turnings. He has yet to put a price tag on any of his work. More about my father:
