Nine years ago, a few buddies were looking to meet on a consistent, weekly basis to ride bikes and enjoy each other’s company. Throughout the ride, and in talking thereafter, they often “solved the world’s problems” among them, finding solutions to many of their personal and professional quandaries and challenges. They treated themselves to dinner and a drink after their ride.

They always met at Main and Mill, on our charming, historic Festus Main Street on Tuesday nights, would ride around the Festus area and return back to Main and Mill, hungry for a delicious dinner and thirsty for a cold brew. The meal, drink and connection at the end was an enticing incentive to keep going on their bike ride, often enduring many hills throughout the ride.
Over the years, word spread about these rides and more people were welcomed to join the informal group. Soon enough, this weekly event had a name, “Tuesday Night Ride.” A Facebook page and website were created to invite the pubic. The event has now evolved to have a different weekly meeting place, with a different scenic route. This allows bikers to explore a variety of paths in our area, while supporting an array of local establishments. No experience, commitment or monetary fee is ever needed to participate. Bikers of all skill levels are welcome to join the crew on Tuesday nights for a memorable ride.

Often lead by community leader, Andrew “Andy” Held, Andy and the other veteran bikers ensure no one is ever left behind. They want everyone to feel safe and held within the group. This communal attitude and energy encourages comfort and camaraderie. The potent mix of physical activity, paired with the emotional connection makes the weekly Tuesday Night Rides an event to attend and celebrate.

Now, each and every Tuesday Night, our fantastic Festus-area community is invited to show up and participate in the ride, and/or be present to honor the members who uphold the cultivation of the special small community they have created within our community.

This is a non-paid endorsement, encouraging you to explore Tuesday Night Ride and other community programs. It is within itty-bitty groups like this, we can solve the world’s problems together.
