At the end of 2022, I challenged myself to tap into my creative writing while connecting with the Festus, Missouri community. I have a genuine curiosity to meet new people, attend area events, visit local establishments and learn about organizations who are striving to make a positive impact.
Through countless conversations, I understand people here are a lot like me. People want to listen to stories, participate in events, connect with others and support local businesses; however, many say, “they don’t know what they don’t know” – in terms of being aware that places, events and services are available to them/in our community.
I have discovered a need for more visibility and communication; hence the reason “MyFestus.com” is evolving into so much more than a blog about the Festus area. As I am working on helpful community solutions, I appreciate you taking the time to read and share.
Here is little more about me:
My name is Sara, the creator of MyFestus.com. I live in Festus, Missouri, the 11th city I have lived in. I grew up and lived in Wisconsin and Minnesota prior to moving to Missouri. Since I was an itty-bitty little girl, I have worked in a variety of small businesses, in many different industries. I earned my B.A. in Professional Communication from Alverno College in Milwaukee, WI.
I moved to Festus in 2018, starting a new life chapter. With the busyness of getting settled into a new state while working full time (commuting to and from in the St. Louis area), with two young children and navigating a global pandemic, I am just now getting out to explore this energetic community, full of beautiful nature, brave entrepreneurs and compassionate people.
As a “transplant,” I am extending my roots as I grow and thrive, while helping native residents, newcomers and visitors do the same. I am honored to publicly communicate local events, shine the light on establishments, share education and provide encouragement.
The MyFESTUS Mission is to:

- CONNECT with people to provide a trusted resource guide.
- SUPPORT local individuals, establishments and nonprofits (a.k.a. MyFESTUS Friends) to increase their visibility and enrich our community.
